Causes We Support

Even in the most trying of times for a country and for the individual,  it is important that we still try to assist those locally, regionally, nationally and globally in any way we can.  In 2008, we started earning our first profits  -- Two years ahead of time! What better way to show our gratitude than to begin contributing to those in need. If you have not supported an organization and are not sure where to start looking, we can recommend any of these below:

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility. Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. With research and patient care under one roof, St. Jude is where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to advance science more rapidly.

St. Jude researchers are published and cited more often in high-impact publications than any other private pediatric oncology research institution in America. St. Jude is a place where many doctors send some of their sickest patients and toughest cases. A place where cutting-edge research and revolutionary discoveries happen every day. We've built America's second-largest health-care charity so the science never stops.

All patients accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family's ability to pay.

Mostly Mutts

The mission of Mostly Mutts is to work closely with animal control officers and other rescue organizations to reduce the number of animals euthanized at local shelters. Mostly Mutts will provide housing, health care, training and physical and emotional care to adoptable animals until they find a new home.

95% of the dogs that Mostly Mutts accepts into their program are from local shelters.  The majority of these wonderful animals would not be here today if it were not for Mostly Mutts.  These dogs were basically “out of time”.  We also rescue special needs, geriatric, pediatric, and sick or injured dogs.  There are some wonderful animal control officers who recognize the beautiful personalities in these dogs and contact rescue groups like ours to pull them.  These dogs are very special.  Under extreme emergencies, we may take in an owner turn in or a stray (donation required).

Mostly Mutts does not take in dogs that are owned, unless under extreme circumstances. However, we will offer assistance to owners that need to find homes for their animals.

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)(3), liscensed by the Dept. of Agriculture.

If you want to work or adopt a rescue dogs than many Pet Smarts on a Saturday afternnon is a good place to start in your own community.  In addition, visit the
ASPCA website to learn how to fight animal cruelty, read expert pet care advice, and view dogs and cats available for adoption.

Kiva

Kiva's mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty.

Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world.

The people you see on Kiva's site are real individuals in need of funding - not marketing material.
When you browse entrepreneurs' profiles on the site, choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan, you are helping a real person make great strides towards economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family, and their community. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates and track repayments. Then, when you get your loan money back, you can relend to someone else in need.

Kiva provides a data-rich, transparent lending platform. We are constantly working to make the system more transparent to show how money flows throughout the entire cycle, and what effect it has on the people and institutions lending it, borrowing it, and managing it along the way. To do this, we are using the power of the internet to facilitate one-to-one connections that were previously prohibitively expensive. Child sponsorship has always been a high overhead business. Kiva creates a similar interpersonal connection at much lower costs due to the instant, inexpensive nature of internet delivery. The individuals featured on our website are real people who need a loan and are waiting for socially-minded individuals like you to lend them money.

TOTAL LOAN AMOUNT $375.00 Viviana opened her own hair salon over 2 years ago, after much sacrifice. She says the loan will be used to buy products for her salon such as hair creams, hydrogen peroxide, and dyes so that her hair salon will be well stocked, as her customers are more exacting every day.

Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments, and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. That concern for others continued even as Susan neared the end of her fight. Moved by Susan’s compassion for others and committed to making a difference, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

That promise is now Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1 billion since inception in 1982. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, we’re working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, and generous contributions from our partners, sponsors and fellow supporters, we have become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
